This album represents Sonia Guinnessy's Maiden Outing, beautifully produced by the Wild Women production team. Be warned this is beautiful, serious yoghurt weaving and not for the hard of heart.

This starlit collection of tribal fireside heart songs includes an interesting reworking of Chrissy's "I am Witch" over a womb-rock-reggae groove. My favorites are "Song to the Night" (483K) with its enchanting harmonies and the refreshing wyrdness of "Strange Love" (666K), here you could hear the ivy growing through the musical arrangements.

There is much of the Faerie about this album, aided and pixelated by Pok's micro-Hendrix style mandolin. It is a journey into the Summerlands on gossamer wings; sustained with simple authenticity and heartfelt warmth. One might describe Sonia's music as New Age Folk albeit rooted in a very ancient native British spirituality. It reminds me of Heathen's, Tribal Voices, Silver on the Tree and Lisa Thiel. Sonia's voice has a bewitching combination of girlish charm and all-knowing wise woman. This album is sure to win the hearts of Avalonians and seasoned tourists alike.

These tunes will stick in your mind like the smell of apples in summer orchards.
