Nick Harrison was born on 26th August 1937, which makes him a contemporary of Steve Reich and Terry Riley. He spent time as a boy on the East coast of Scotland where he started to compose tunes and songs in Gaelic on Scottish Radio in a Children's Hour programme.
Later he learned to play violin and developed a keen interest in 20th Century classical music. An interest in composition led him into working as an arranger with the Rolling Stones and Joe Cocker.
He has written classical pieces including a String Quartet and The Nagual and the Tonal for Oboe and 11 string players, which was performed at Wells Cathedral.
Other classical compositions include Dark Woods for Orchestra and a Concerto for Violin and Orchestra.
Nick is presently recording a CD of songs with singer Oshia Drury. He has two CDs currently on release - The Silent Forest in collaboration with several other musicians, including the guitarist Michael Clark; and the Curlieu with special guest John Wilkes (flute).
